I sold my last W168 in 2015, so a bit rusty on the details, plus never needed to replace a fuel pump, but I have these couple of WIS files, hopefully will be of some use ...

You need to remove the tank to replace the pump. No other access.
If you buy the pump complete with the level sensor and plug I advise to get it from the dealer.
From experience, aftermarket (complete) pumps are for short wheel base, short wire, and level sensor for 1997-2000, otherwise it will show wrong fuel level.
To replace just the pump by itself is a bit tricky but better choice.
