Then to answer your question, you would need to change the entire speedometer.

It might be easier and less expensive to replace the entire cluster, assuming you were buying used parts. I'd also recommend replacing the odometer gears while you're at it since even if it still works correctly, it's just a matter of time until it fails.

I see.

My question is the following, I am currently bidding on a speedo unit, but the owner does not know if it is mechanical or electrical.

He has the part number and a picture of one side and cannot access the part until Monday, and the auction ends tomorrow.

Is there anyway to know from the part no?

Can I just swap the speedo unit and keep the same cluster?
