Changing distributor arm

698 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  spanners
Hello all.
I am about to renew my HT circuit: spark plugs, HT wires, distributor cap and rotor arm. I have a 1992 MB190E 2.3 and, after reading the Haynes manual, I have some questions:
How is the rotor arm removed? Simply by pulling upwards? And to refit it, do I have to press it only?
About removing the HT leads from the cap: I have found it very difficult and I am afraid to break them: any tricks to do this?

Thanks!

Distributor

Try twisting the wires sideways to break the seal and then pull them up.

The rotor arm does just pull up and push back on.

Thanks!
What seal do you mean? What you say involves breaking the old cables? Perhaps what you mean is that the connections are stuck with age and that turning the connections in the cap can unstick them, am I right?

Best regards
