Does any one have any ebay links for these as they are not advertised on the UK ebay site. My old B had them but my new one doesn't.
Keith at this moment as i see also there no auctions for this item but i can find the seller from which i bought them. I am almost sure that he can make a listing for you so you can buy them...(if i remember well they cost about 10euro)

Cheers

P.S> I am coming back with the info

And here is one 'Mercedes joke'... i called the dealer and asked for the plastic clips of the door trim...

Price for ONE clip is 1.40 Euro (!) :D:D:D:D:D :surrender:

I bought some tens of them before 2 years for my Peugeot 206CC for about 3 Euros if i remember well...

I believe that these facts are for laughing and only.... Why in common cheap parts you have to pay AND their name also? If it was a specific or special part or Mercedes Benz production part i would understand!!!

Anyway...cheers to all!

So i picked up a pair of 5.25" Focal 130 CVX's and had them installed. (I'm lazy I know) Wow what a difference over the crappy base speakers!!! It's a much cleaner sound and a much more rounded.(More bass) I'm going to look at replacing the front component speakers too, maybe in the summer. This is a must do mod, IMO. Here's a pic. Thanks for everyone's help in this thread.

Anthony
Hi Anthony,

I' seriously considering this upgrade. I sat for the first time in the back this week-end and I kept on asking my wife to pump up the volume, and she told me that her ears were bleeding in the front while in the back it sounded like sh*t.

Did you go to Merc to have these speaker installed or you went to a electronic/radio shop. How much did it cost you in total ?

Hey Daniel,

I ended up going to a car audio place in Edmonton (Certified Radio on Whyte Ave.) I can't remember the exact cost but it was around $500, i think. The speakers were the large chunk of the cost, I'll find my invoice and let you know if that was way out to lunch. I took in George's shop manual pages on install and removal so that they did it correctly. ( Found in this thread) The back seat does have better sound, the system still limits the sound but it seem cleaner and goes louder than before. The only thing I hate is if you sit back there the sound comes from your feet and nothing behind you, I don't know why but that bugs me. Good thing I don't sit back there.

Thanks for resurrecting a post from soooo long ago... Most of the members here have the Audio 20 and usually 4 ohm speakers are installed on it.

Tell us what the max wattage of these speakers are and.....

...... do you know the output wattage of your Audio 5(Becker) is....??

The Audio 20(Alpine) is ~ 100 watts of power ...and that's not much when adding or changing to "newer" or up-graded speakers.

hi,
I am in the process of changing my Audio 5 to Audio 20 ntg, (A1699002000), and in light of that am planning also to change the rear door speakers, which seems bad in comparasion to the front speakers, i found this on German Ebay, and was wondering if this could improve my sound output.

Pioneer TS-G1021i,
10cm Dualcone Lautsprecher
Nenn-/Musikbelastbarkeit 30/180 Watt
Impedanz 4 Ohm
Frequenzbereich 45 - 26,000 Hz
Schalldruck 88 dB
Produktbeschreibung

Will this be compatable with a newly install Audio 20?

Hi joesly and welcome aboard....!!

Could you insert a photo of the new speaker or a link.

Yes ....the rear speakers are garbage and must be replaced.

It's quite a project to change them as the old speakers are only held with 3 attachments and most speakers have 4 holes. So a fair bit of modding will be required to do it right. 30/180 watt speakers might be too much for the Audio 20.

I would like to see a photo of the new speakers with the speaker size and the magnet size in cm or inches added here... if possible. I could better judge when seeing it.

Thanks for having me on board....

I was considering or anticipating to purchase this Pioneer which i found on Ebay,

Pioneer TS-G1021i,
10cm Dualcone Lautsprecher
Nenn-/Musikbelastbarkeit 30/180 Watt

Being that the watt 30/180 is too much for the Audio,
what do you think about this other Pioneer, this was meant for my previous car, but couldnt get the time to fix it, so i thought this could go in my B class.

Of course, I reckon its quite a project to upgrade these speakers, but considering the follow specification on what i have in hand, is the 160W too much?

The Speaker i have here on hand, is a pioneer TS-A131C

2 way
160W max
13cm
Nominal power 40W
Woofer 130mm
tweeter 28mm DOME
Impedance 4 ohms
91dB/W (1m)
Frequency Responds 40-30,000Hz

any advice on this, will this be suitable ?

You will have to play around quite a bit to get them to properly fit. Possibly drill extra holes in the door to bolt them in (don't use self tapping screws here),.. and add spacers(for window mech travel) and trim the plastic on the inner door panel. Trimming the inner panels will not affect the outside panel visuals at all.

You will also have to send most of the volume to the rear ,..just to get an even balance throughout your B. These speakers will draw more power than the standard fronts do and that's why you will have to do the balance play.

I think that if we added the same quality fronts as these rears,..we might overload the radio output and not properly drive the speakers.

A car radio shop could possibly tell us for sure....but then they might just want to sell you their stuff and do the job...

If you go to the 'blue stickies' at the top of the B Forum and look at "What did you do to your B today", you will see my latest info on how to remove the inner door panels...for the speakers etc...

Bumping this, next up on the list of things to fix on my B-class.

The MDF install on the last page is brilliant - however a mention was made of the depth issue? If anyone could measure or chime in on that, that would be fantastic. Looking to source some coaxial units from the UK to bring home in June and possibly install them myself. Cheers!

Depending on the speakers used, the spacer will have to be a custom fit and possibly 1/2 inch thick. You will also have to make sure that the interior door cover also still fits back on without making speaker contact.

I trimmed my interior plastic door panel just a touch on the inside to clear the speaker. It does not show on the exterior of this door panel when back in place.

Thanks for the tip! Will relay the information to the shop, because I feel that this would probably be way out of my capabilities especially as I don't have much time to spare.

Related: in car audio seems to be a really obscure market with no guarantee that you'll be getting genuine speakers. Been doing a little research and finding out that there are so many knock-off brands and fakes of popular speakers...

hi guys. I've just bought a 2015 MB B Class 180CDI (w246 lift). as soon as I turned my music... I went deaf... this is historical failure of modern car sound systems... crappy bulk speakers just just...ehhh. Anyway, reading the Net I found out that door panel of w176 looks promisingly similiar to mine w246. there are plenty of fe JBL replacement speakers systems for w176 but none dedicated to w246. will they be anyhow proper for my case? what do you think?

Get better quality speakers than the OE's (JBL's seem very good)..but not too large or power draining. Right ohms of course. It will be trial and error to see how and if other speakers will fit.
I've never touched a W246.

DEVOURS, any idea what the Ohms were for the standard base setup of the W245? Mine had the base radio system - am/fm and CD, but no sat-nav or reversing camera.

I can't rememeber "for sure"..The impedance has to be 4 or 8 Ohms....It's been too long. I think that the output of the standard Audio 20 (Alpine unit) was 110 or 130 watts total...so not that much.
Didn't each speaker have it's own little amp unit in each door. My memories ....fading...

Better verify by opeining it up and get some readings.
