I am VERY interested. I just painted my center console for the 2nd time about 3 weeks ago ago, and I knocked another big chunk of paint off while I was installing my new HU and GPS this past weekend. I am tired of this!

You could get the material and let an upholstery shop do the work. I feel the same way about the paint. Every time I turn around I have to touch it up. And my console is about three diff. shade of grey.

Away with the Wrap...Real CF parts

How hard is it to remove the upper console(around the radio and vents)? The center and the upper console parts are the ones I really want done.
Disassembly of the interior can be found at this website:

I bet this would look real nice if a UV resistant resin is applied over the fabric; in a similar fashion to the webpage 32krazy! sited: Carbon Fiber Wrapping and Fabrication

"ACC permanently bonds real carbon fiber to virtually any component, primarily tanks and fenders. You send us your parts and we prep them and then apply a layer of carbon fiber. We then impregnate the carbon with multiple layers of UV stable exterior grade resin, The parts are then sanded to a 1000. grit surface and then spray coated with automotive urethane clear coat."

Another good site who makes carbon fiber components (see pictures) similar to the ones seen in this thread is the real solution to peeling:

manic the acc people are using true carbon fiber weave then applying other products to produce the shine. this material seems to a carbon fiber pattern on a viynl type of material. i saw a post on the web page were a guy tried to apply a shine and ruined it. this seems like a pretty inexpensive way to repair the paint issues on our cars. i think im going to order a yard of it and see whats what!
as for the door handles the same page has a guy who wrapped a lease unit and after removing the wrap rubbed it with alcohol and the glue came rite off leaving the orig. wood trim
all in all this looks like some fun for an interior mod.

manic the slk home page wont open
