There are replacement center consoles available from various vendors including your local MBZ dealership, but they are referred to as "late" style.

What years are "early" style? '72- ?

The difference in the early and late designs is the ability to remove the side carpeted sections withour removing the whole center console on the later ones. You have to remove the whole console with the earlier ones.

Not yet, but I'm getting closer to it. Trying to figure out a new layout in the console for switches, audio system and new A/C controls. With new Zebrano veneer.
