Is the lift support in the center console replaceable, or is it part of the center console unit?

The lift in mine ('99 E320) does nothing.. DOA.

Thanks

if you're referring to the pneumatic strut, which helps to hold open the arm
rest cover, it doesn't appear to be a separately sold part. but that doesn't
mean it's not repairable and whatnot. if the armrest cover just allows it to
flop up and down by gravity, it may indicate that the piston assembly within
that cylinder is on the blink.

i'm making a totally wild stab at this so bear with me. this piston is a low load
part and thus very basic in design. another similar piston can be found
supporting the glove box door. ergo, low load.

if these are anywhere similiar in construction, it may be a simple fix. the
piston has rubber gasket which helps contain and moderate air within the
outside cylinder. the construction was quite basic on the glove box piston
and extremely easy to fix. but in order to find out, you'll have to spend a
few minutes disasembling the the center console in order to examine the
piston unit.

if that's not the unit you're referring to, well, i'll just stop speculating and
take the dog out for a walk. :)

Yes, it's the pneumatic strut that is supposed to support the center console lid when you open it.

I already fixed the one in the glove box.

Will have to spend some time figuring out how to get the console out so that I can see what is wrong with the strut.

Thanks again, Raymond!
