Ref '97 500SL-new owner.
Anyone have experience with repairing a non-working center brake light (deck mounted)?
There is no voltage at the plug-in connector when pressing the brake pedal, ruling out a defective bulb assembly. The repair records reference a "wiring repair" that fixed this problem several years ago.

The feed from the brake lamp switch goes to the exterior lamp failure module, then to connector X18 (pictured), and then to the connector at the brake lamp where you are measuring no voltage. So you probably want to check for voltage at X18 between its pin #8 and chassis ground.

Appreciate your fast reply and the detailed diagram! The problem was actually caused by broken wires inside the rubber flex at the trunk hinge.
