Since last week my CC is not working anymore on my 86 560 SL. I followed the excellent how-to's of JamesDean and discovered that my actuator is pulling 1,05A when pin 4 and 5 are directly connected to a 12V source. As it's way over the 250mA allowed, I need to fix it.

I imported my 560 SL to France so just buying a new actuator is a bit more difficult and expensive then from the US. Now I was just wondering, what is causing an actuator to pull 1A and can it be fixed? Replace bushings maybe? Solder the joints? Replace the few resistors?

Or should I just admit this actuator is shot? Is this type of actuator installed on other Mercedes chassis as well?

I would not be surprised if other contemporary MB models uses the same actuator. Another option is to ship it to JamesDean (Kris Rose) and he will repair it for you.

Many thanks Yka & Ruindr, I go to check the German eBay and good to know the W107 has the same actuator.

As my gears are still in good condition, I am hoping to swap the motor.

Thanks all!
