Carpets...Pictures towards the end 56k be scared

Who here thinks it would be safe to put the "Main" carpets in the washer? If so, do you think they should be put on Hot, Warm, or Cold water and on what cycle, Delicate, Permanent Press or Normal? Let me know what you think!

LOL! Seriously? Steam extraction will work best. If you don't have that luxuary do the poor mans version... Hot water mixed with carpet shampoo, a pump sprayer and a wet dry vac. Use resolve or that orange goodness stuff for tough stains. The washer may take away the "form" the carpet takes. It will be a bitch to put it back correct without any bumps or wrinkles and it may shrink. If I was going through the trouble of taking it out because it was that dirty or smelly, I'd hit the junkyard or internet looking for some new skin...

Have you looked at the backside of the carpets? I think it would be impossible to wash in a washer without screwing them up.

Well heres the verdict...I went ahead and put it through the washer anyways..I put it on warm and delicate cycle...It worked a little bit, but not nearly enough. But the important thing is that it didn't ruin it at all..All the curves are stilll in it and it will be definately ready to go back in. I have this spotter that I bought from this professional cleaners place down the road..Its helping a lot...but to finish it off I've been doing the hot water and wet dry vac. Thats doing the most good. I just have to keep doing it. I've probobly got out like 85% of the stain.

- the stain type is just DIRT..I've never really pulled the carpets out to clean them and it looks as if the p.o. never did as well. The dirt is just pounded really really hard down in there. The discoloration is going away though so atleast its improving.

Good to know, HA! Try to foam the dirt stain out, use some detergent ( something with a degreaser like dish sosp) right on the stain with a small amount of water and rub it till it foams with a toothbrush or scrubbrush etc... suck the foam away with a wet dry rinse and repeat... Should work.

rjb- dude! I put this stuff called "Just Rite" 1-2-3 that's used for cat piss and stuff that stinks and stains like crazy. Theres 3 steps but you don't have to use all three. I just used the last step a long with Boiling water and tada! I had to do it 3-4 times to get it 98% out but it worked. Between the boiling water, cleaner and the carpet attachment for the wet/dry vac it worked great. Of course I'm not exhausted and it's time to kick back and have a beer. LOL - Hey Thanks for the help guys!!

- OH! The scrub brush that I used was a "stiff bristle" tile and grout brush just in case anyone wanted to know. I'll take a picture in a minute. I don't think I have before pics though. But I'll look and see so you can see the difference.

I know the one I'm showing is the Drivers side but that one was the worse of the two. The top is still wet so it still looks really discolored but it's not. But bottom portion towards the drivers seat was brown. Not tan. Now it's tan.

na, those are actually the cleanest pieces in the car. I'm trying to make the carpets actually match!
- but anyways, I'm about 3/4's the way done with them, then I've gotta figure out what I'm going to do next. I keep meaning to start re-doing stuff under the hood like paint the air box and take tire cleaner/shiner and go over all the hoses and little stuff like that.
