Hello All,


Vehicle - 1999 ML320

My cargo, (rear), light quit working when you open the hatch. It does work when manually postioning the switch to the middle or left side, as you look at it from the rear, but it will not come on automatically like it used to.

Question: Does anyone know where the switch is located that activates the dome light when you lift or open the hatch?

Switch S88/1 is part of tailgate latch.

Thanks much for the location...I'm guessing I'll have to pull the large plastic cover off to access the switch?

Held on by clips. Fairly simple.

Any issues with alarm or central locking? Same switch is used as trigger for alarm if tailgate is opened.

By the way.......have you seen the date of the thread?

Have you check the position of the light switch?

Have you checked fuse #13 ?

Have you checked the bulb?

Have you checked anything?
