I have a 1997 E320 that still has the factory stereo in it. I want to replace this with a Panasonic car stereo that has XM and Ipod capability built in. I would like to know if there are any potential problems I should be aware of in doing this or if it's a pretty simple process. If there are any directions or pictures anywhere for getting the trim pieces off, that would be helpful, also.

Thanks for your help.

You may have to bypass the factory amp in the trunk. Are you replacing the speakers as well or just the head unit? You can get the pin outs for the factory stereo connector by doing a search on here or most MB sites or from Becker, the company that makes the stereo for Mercedes. The connector is basically the same as for a VW so you can find the plugs at most car stereo stores.

As I always tell people, keeping the original look and equipment is classy and indicative of an owner who appreciates the original flavor of the car....but classy additions to the exterior and interior can be effective. I personally like Nakamichi because of its easy on the eyes orange lights, the same color as the rest of the interior.
