The passenger side door on my 73 450sl doesn't want to lock when I insert key. On the inside the latch sticks out, can't push it in. Otherwise door works fine, can open and close, no problem. A mechanic suggested squirting a rust blaster solution into the key hole. Tried it, didn't do anything.

So, I'm thinking, the mechanism inside the door panel is stuck somehow. Now, is this a major repair job? Any thoughts? Ed

Don't know if yours is the same but on mine the passenger door has a vac module. . If the vac doesn't work , the lock won't either. Sounds like you need to remove the door card for a looksee. Not hard. It's in the manual.
