So after finally getting the harness I needed to connect the struts, I connected the harness to the car, and the strut to the harness. I noticed one of the struts is worn/dead and been too long for me to return it to the junk yard.. One of them seems to be slow at coming back to full height. The other one is faster.

1. Now I'm going to be hunting through junk yards for another strut, question is, can I test the strut by hooking it up outside of my car and see if it works? or does it have to have the pressure of the vehicle?

2. Are ADS struts softer or harder than air shocks to push down? Activated vs Deactivated vs Free Standing?

3. Are ADS struts supposed to come back up at the speed of regular struts?

Bump, anyone know?

Also, what measurements can I do with a multimeter on the electronics of the strut to see if electronics are fine? What volt/amp flow to do a safe check ?

Honestly, as someone who has delved into ADS fairly deeply, I can't say. Too much of this system simply isn't documented beyond what was required for an authorized Mercedes shop to fix the system.

The damper valve assembly's have a documented test procedure in the workshop documentation for testing Ohms, but that's it. Certainly would be worth looking at them.
