Hello I recently bought a 190E with low km's and lot's of options but the paint is the only thing that needs a lot of attention.
these are some pics of my paint.

faded spot on the bonnet

both passenger side doors have these marks on them

here is the big picture

the bonnet with a bit of dust but you can clearly see the imperfections.

These are the materials I bought to work on the paint:

-an orbital buffer with a wool and cotton pad.
-meguiars mirror glaze 1 medium cut cleaner
-autoglym super resin polish
-meguiars next tech liquid wax

The doors looks like that is the end of the paint so polishing and wax looks like the only option there. The rest with meguiars medium cut cleaner??

please some thoughts of the more experienced detailers

Yes, that paint can be restored to brand new, just needs to be bead blasted, a few quick coats of primer, color and clear and it will shine like it did back in the '80s. I loved my 190, great fun. Figure if you did the painting, about $1,000 to do it right, a body shop may charge more, maybe $5,000. Good time to learn how to work a paint gun, not that hard.

Well I paid less than $5000 for the whole car so a good paintjob is not worth it to me at the moment. Think I polish to the best I can and then wax to cover everyhing up a little more.

You can't "restore" missing paint.
Once paint is gone, you can't buff it back on, wax it back on etc.

You'll definitely need to get a new Paint Job.

I had the same thing with my Honda Accord. After so many years and those freaking car washes it stripped off my Clear Coat then the Paint.

Well Today I polished the whole car with super resin polish which brought back some of the shine in the paint. It is not a great result but better than before. The clear coat is already of on several places. After the polish I used tech meguiars tech wax which gave the car some more shine. The result is pretty good but i will post some pictures later.
