hopefully getting a C43 AMG soon and just wondered if it is possible to remove the 155mph speed limiter on it?

is it just a case of having the cars ecu remapped?

who does this?

how much does it cost?

how fast is a de restricted C43 AMG capable of?

Of course it can be done. There are plenty of places which offer this. I'm sure someone here can recommend a place.

Generally, it isn't "removed", just adjusted upwards to usually something like 300Km/hr (186 mph) because that's about the limit for most tires. A C43 would probably run out of breath long before that, more like 165 mph. Don't know of a place in the UK, any other members? I'll bet Storm could tell you.

I had a Suburban that you could plug a Hypertech programmer into the OBDII (ECU diagnostics) port and change quite a handful of settings including top speed.

Here in the States the top speed is set by the maximum safe speed of the OEM tires.

Hypertech only makes a programmer for Detroit iron, but I can't imagine it's impossible to do for almost any ECU -- all they are is a special purpose computer.

I would hope it costs less than $500. The Hypertech is only $350 out the door. Reuse and reprogram at will...

AMG offer the service but not without looking at your tyres and meeting the requirement of TUV standards.
