I'm one of them, and didn't post "probably not" because I'm not 100% sure. I think they are very different engines.

I looked into this for my 606.96 engine, but the 104 exhaust ports are close but not enough. There used to be a 104 turbo manifold in the for sale section, so you might check to see if it's still available.

 

With minor modification an OM603 manifold has been used on the M103 so it goes to reason that with minor modification an OM606 manifold would work on the M104. Question is, why bother?

 

The port arrangements are completely different between the 606 and 104, while the 603 and 103 are similar. There is no crossover between those two sets of engines

 

The bore spacing is identical and the port shape is close enough. The only issue is re drilling the holes in the manifold and possibly making a secondary backing plate. After all that effort you're probably better off just buying one of these.

a 12 valve head and a 24 valve head.

Yeah, I looked into this a few years ago, and realized it wasn't gonna happen. I'll just have to plasma cut a flange and then weld up an exhaust log for my custom turbo manifold. The stock 606 manifold is a pig of a design, with no residual ability to allow for performance improvements.
