You can remove them but it comes off in one unit along with the arm. You have to get under the vehicle to remove the securing clip and then their should be 4 nuts under the centre console.

then what?

so after i get the arm and all out, when i wanted to put a new shift knob on there what would i have to do? buy another arm or something, to attach to the shift knob.

You replace the entire unit, knob and arm. They sell for around £30 here in the UK and ...

You replace the entire unit, knob and arm. They sell for around £30 here in the UK and are available in wood, leather, aluminium or carbon effect.

The clip is under the car connecting the under side of the gear lever to the selector rod which is threaded for adjustment. The nuts (actually they may be bolts/screws) are accessable from under the console cover inside the vehicle. For this lift the cover at the rear and pull it backwards to pull it free of the lugs.
