Hello guys, havent been here in years, but definitely miss this forum. Some of the best times and some of the best people.

A friend of mine broke his instrument cluster lens while trying to remove it for some repairs.

If he gets an entire new cluster can he switch out the lens only so he can keep his old cluster with its odo readings.

If he cant switch out the lens then obviously he will get a new cluster, what models are compatible with a 92 93 sel. I cant recall if anything was done to the cluster in 94 or 96. I owned a 94, 98 and a 99. Now im on the dark side.

Eddy if your watching shoot me a pm.

Good being here again.

Yes the lens assembly can be replaced. There are a series of clips and perhaps a couple of screws if I remember right.

The EPC says it changed in 1995. I think they went to digital odometer and perhaps other changes, and the lens assembly changes numbers so it's diffrent somehow.

yea for sure, but meant if the lens only will be interchangeable. They visually look the same not sure if clips or fitting is different. Will see what eddy has to say he has a few of these laying around.

Eddie might be familiar with the difference, but EPC difinitely says that the lens alone is a different number.

Oh wow thanks for this clarification, thought the EPC number was for the entire cluster didnt know its for the lens only. I appreciate you looking this up for me. And if anyone has a cluster for sale please pm. Thanks again.

I owed you one. It was your thread that helped me finally solve my intermittent ignition problems. One of the first things I had to fix on my car was a cracked instrument cluster lens. The assembly was about $100 from the dealer a couple of years ago.

They are interchangeable

I actually have a spare lens if anyone wants to buy it (who is close to me in NZ) I don't have a W140 anymore so it's of no use to me. :(
