Hi
I need HELP. My 1999 ML 320 has seven spoke pictor wheels like ML430 and 275 tyres. It also has chrome side step bars (no rubber). I am trying to find info on the DATA CARD to see if these were ordered when the car was new for insurance purposes. UK companies getting very big on voiding your insurance if you do not declare mods. I have checked the russian merc site but it does not include this info. Can anyone please check on EPC for me. Please pm or thread info MANY THANKS

848 says "Side window, electrical hinged"
833 says "Invalid/Great Britain Additional Parts"

Not sure what 833 means as I am looking at the US version of EPCnet, maybe it would actually tell on a Great Britain version?? I did however go to group 88 where it shows the side step bars and the front push bar and it says that both are invalid for that vehicle.

Thanks again. Also there is 984 elimination of ownership certificate but with coc papersc01.06.1993? what the hell does that mean. Did they fit side bars in the factory, or was it a dealer fit item. Its just is a bit strange that its listed on this russian benz site. Could the wheels have been ordered and fitted at the factory special order. Car may have been dealer showroom car as 3 months differace between delivery date and first registration?. Cheers

847 means third row of seats. There is a factory option 846 which brings side protection but the code reads as "scuff plate in alu-appearance with rubber studs" and the data card does not list this option code. Looks like you have some after market parts? Original wheels appear to be part # A163 401 01 02, 6.5J16 aluminium wheels.

re " to see if these were ordered when the car was new for insurance purposes. UK companies getting very big on voiding your insurance if you do not declare mods."

Hi megadamp - cant you make this the insurance companies problem ? give them a list of all the things on the car and the card - you are done.

or as an alternate option - possibly when in doubt (when cant be proven otherwise) assume and state that said item is a modification ? doesn't seem reasonable for you to have to go through the exercise and bare unknown risk(s) ....

Wish it was that simple. It doesn't work like that in the uk. If your can has any mods at all. Even stick on things, you must declare them. Then you will be told your insurance is going up or they will decline cover. My insurance is due for renewal. Put my details through a comparison site 100 different insurance companies With and without mods. Not one company that was listed on the first quote was there on the second, and the price had doubled to well over £1000.00. with eccess £600.00 They run away from any risk.
