Exactly. I always turned off the aircon 5 minutes before I reached my destination with my old Acura 3.5RL which I bought brand new and owned for 11 years and has never had any smell on the car.

Yes Chinese herbs/medicine like tiger penis or deer horn is much more sustainable than Viagra.:thumbsup:
How can I get some of these? :p The tiger penis, I mean. We have too many deer here in Michigan and in my backyard.

Though there is law that protects them still there is a will there is a way. Deers must be of the species raised in the northeastern Jilin province of China otherwise no therapeutic value. I have another threads....intermittent start delay issue....any thoughts?

Yes, stuffs from Jilin are good. ;) Do you know about the Jilin frogs that eat ginseng leaves?

I thought you have already identified your problem perfectly. :D A leaking fuel pressure regulator which in integrated into the fuel filter. Now it is time to find out when that thing was replaced. If not, I would replace it, it it were my car.

Amazing ...Lou you know HK feet and Jilin and eating frogs; did you ever live here b4?

ILJ - highway #3 and the long drive to the airport, but you need to have radar detector mounted.

Sometimes not fast enough to slow down, even with V1 and still got photo!!! Are you using some other radar detector? Be careful sometimes you are just lucky that the camera is not on. I am on #3 daily :D

Hey ILJ that's my way to test the fuel pump and fuel filter - if the car responds really quick and smooth and whisper quiet to a depressed pedal, I know both components should be good. Also cleansing the car of the mildew smell. I am loving it.

No. This smell keeps coming back, for just a few seconds after turning on the aircon but is gone quickly thereafter. Same smell that you sniff when you change the dust bag off your vacuum cleaner. Tried new filters and aerosol but results are only short term. I plan to open the hood and let the aircon intake vent be basking under the sun for 2 hours. Do you think if any components under the hood will get cracked if exposed under the sun....or anything that I have to be careful?

hiya... 算啦, your car > 7 years already, any plastic component can crack under the sun. If you really worry so much about the details, you really need to get a new car.... you cannot conquer aging or degeneration. Same for man, same for cars. :D

I want to update you guys how I eventually removed this mildew smell from the aircon. Not the disinfectant spray. Not keep changing the filters. All these rants really made me nuts. The secret is to drive the car every day and not to let it sit. If it sits, mildew will build up and it's so stubborn getting it removed. Last winter I drove the car every day and the humidity in those days is very low and now the summer returns there is none of that smell. Just none.

My car had a terrible noxious smell. Turned out the AC drains were disintegrating. I went to the hardware store and got 3/4 ID tubing for $2 a foot and made new ones. They fit and worked perfectly. The old drains themselves were what was smelling. 20190922_152908.jpg 20190922_160010.jpg
