hi benz enthusiasts!!!!1
i m very curious to know that can a normal diesel engine(non-turbo) be converted to crdi common rail direct injection .????????
i have read the articles on internet about crdi technique and it's working. it seems a job of fit and fixture of the crdi injection system complete kit from bosch company.
the only thing is the feed of high pressure pump coz the normal rotary pump would go off and the pump should be connected to camshaft through some gear directly as far as i know.
am i asking real wise step for benz or just a stupid thought coz crdi help in pick up of car alot and it reduces the noise alot too.
can somebody guide me on this.

I didn't know such things existed. I guess a lot more diesel technology exists in India than it does here. I guess anything is possible. The theory sounds possible but it would need to be tweaked to match the motor as I am sure a kit would need to be. Less fuel and NVH would be a plus!

I doubt it as the 6xx engines are indirect injection. You would have to engineer a completly new head as well as injectors. might as well make the new head cross flow as well
