Petaluma to be exact. I found a good shop in Petaluma called European Car Service the owner worked for a large MB dealer for over 15 years & has had his own shop for sometime, Nice guy fair pricing & good work. The phone number is 707-762-4052 or 707-738-6633. He knows a lot about the diesels.

I live about 1 1/2 hours north of Novato but brought an 82 300D to Mike at European Car Service this week on very short notice (read: one hour). He was thorough, efficient, friendly and his prices were VERY reasonable. Oh, he was HONEST too! And as a bonus, I learned a lot about the car I was buying while he reviewed the vehicle with me. Thanks, Mike, for the terrific service!

adding to the list, there is another guy in Petaluma that knows these cars like the back of his hand. Mercedes Ben's is what the shop is called. Ben's as the owner's name is Ben.
Bens LLC is the old name I think.

Mike at European Car Service is Friendly, Fair and Honest along with being a great factory certified mechanic with an amazing memory. Great with DIY mechanics who need assistance with the more complicated issues such as faulty fuel trim, shift solenoid and misfire codes. Has kept our 1998 slk 230 in great shape - at 116,000 miles it is still running strong with 30 mpg hwy and 25 around town.

Have also been to Ben's another great PTown MB mechanic.

'User CP' on top will let you complete your profile with car mod and location.
After 5 years of membership.....
Daimler Benz made different versions of same model cars for different parts of the world, so location is important.
