My Ted's Experience

Had a bad experience with Ted's. When I went to drop my car off there after being told I could do so on a Saturday, I was met with a rude mechanic (the owner's son) who told me I could not drop it off, then proceeded to tell me "no one told [me] could leave it there", and then was extremely rude and unprofessional. Basically told me he could care less what I was told, and offered no solutions. Not even a "sorry, but whoever told you that was wrong, but let me see what I can do", or a "sorry for your inconvenience, but we don't allow that for liability reasons" etc. He was downright rude and aggressive.

I'm sure these guys do good work, but after the run-in I had with this guy, I would personally never go back.

In addition, according to their website, "All cars are stored in our 3000 square foot shop every night". This is just plain false. There were 5-7 cars outside their shop, and I was told there wasn't even room in the parking lot to leave my car.

Since Lynn is no longer at Ted's, things have gotten noticeably different over there. Not sure where Lynn is now, but I sure would love to find him again! He did some great work on my BMW and Porsche.

Has anyone in the AV ever tried the new place off of the 14 at Avenue I? Looks to be a pretty big operation called Antelope Valley Mercedes Benz.

I went to Ted's for an oil change before Lynn left and they did a fine job. Customer service was excellent. I called a few months later (after Lynn left) to get a quote on replacing the glow plugs on my 05' CDI. His first quote was higher than the dealers! After I asked him directly, he told me he had never done that particular job before so I went to the dealer. I have since had them do another oil change and the transmission seals. Talk to the owner if you go in. She will tell you straight what the mechanics can and can't do and recommend you go elsewhere if it's over their heads.

They just moved to that location from about a half a mile up the street. Don and Vicky run it. They are both good mechanics. I have a 98 SL500 and have been using them for a couple of years. Plus they took care of farming out the body work and everything after I had a wreck last year. If you are local, stop by and meet them. Wont take you long to figure out they are competent and pleasant to deal with. They keep my car running good and take time to entertain all my stupid questions, etc...

It's Ted's not Tes's. And Albert used to be the head mechanic there and he left because of all of the problems there and started his own shop.

Also, I would suggest you read THIS THREAD. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE has had more experience with them than I do unless you are one of their family, and I doubt anyone here is. I bought the coupe you see below from them and literally lived there for four months while I restored it. I didn't even list half of what my experiences have been. I have referred at least 6-7 people there and not one person is happy with them.

I found your buddy Alfred's shop last year, on Trevor, north of Avenue I, when I needed to find a new Porsche place after Lynn left his shop. Had some braking issues, and Alfred took over a week to get back to me and let me know it was the master, and was going to cost over $650 to replace it.

I found a place in the SFV that did it for $300.

Sure do miss Lynn for all my German cars. He was the guy that made one feel like family.

You REALLY don't want to go to Antelope Valley Mercedes. Do a search on them and my name and you weill read just a portion of what I have been through with them.

New developments: My car is back at Alfred's this weekend because AV Mercedes did not tighten my calipers when they did my front end and one of the bolts came off again. Also, I had them to a R&R on the Diff which I did a DIY on last year and they didn't tighten the rear cover and it was now loose.

I am also having them put in a new oil level sensor too.

Hi all: I am new to the forum and new to MB ownership but must recommend a place that I was "steered to" by my parts store (where I purchase all my American car stuff). This place is: Jack's Mercedes Service 12515 Pearblossom Hwy (138) just east of Littlerock. 661 944 9474 The place is not much to look at from the outside but Jack is an older MB trained, German mechanic who certainly impressed me. He shoots straight from the hip (I REALLY LIKE that...no smoke and mirrors). He has a supply of older parts and smarts to get the job done well and reasonably. He has another fellow who handles all the electrical stuff...Manfred, who is also SUPER. They handled some work on my '91 300 CE-24 and I am very happy. I feel like I was treated fairly and honestly by both of these guys and am recommending them to the forum. I had the ignition lock assembly replaced and the SRS sensor replaced which involved some trouble shooting as well. Again, the place isn't much to look at from the outside but he's always busy but always friendly and straight forward. The results speak for themselves as far as I'm concerned...
