I had Tony and Bob's Ind't mercedes take care of a lot of work and they are a pretty good shop. They were about the only people who could figure out how to get my euro import psuedo federalized car to pass smog, so I get to see them every two years and have them fool the car into passing smog. Good shop and nice guys!

Yes, they were able to get my car to smog. I went to referees, test onlys, etc before noticing these guys were working on some really old cool cars like a 220s. I would never go to a gold shield test repair because most of those guys don't know mercedes enough to be able to fiddle with them to get passed smog. I went to one test repair shop where the guy couldn't speak a word of english but someone was letting them work on a 750il v12 bmw.

You don't need to know English to work on cars, may be he knows Greman:rolleyes:

Yeah Tony is a great guy. Just went to him and he told me of ways to save money instead of them charging me new prices for parts. Bob and Tony's would have charged me $80 bucks to diagnosis my electrical issues for the bad alarm install job I had done at Fry's Electronics on my 190E. I went to another shop to get a quote and they started working on my car. They fixed the issue and I was given a bill for $183 bucks!!!! All for a loose plug under the dashboard. I sent the bill to Fry's and they paid. Im sure Bob and Tony's would have charged less. Lesson learned. State you want a quote and dont let mofos work on your car. Get everything in writing.

Hi Daryn:
I live in Redwood Shores, and I'm interested in taking my cars to your suggested/reliable place for service. Please provide address/phone of Tony and Bob's. Thanks.

Cramik you could try Sal's Autohaus in San Francisco off San Jose Ave. Google it. Bob and Tony's wanted $2500 for a head gasket and Sal's said $1800.

Paul's Mercedes Werkstatt

939 Terra Bella Ave
Mountain View, CA

My parents have been taking their Mercedes to him for years and I worked as a mechanic's apprentice for him in high school. He's an honest guy and does a lot of transmission work. Great shop. Highly recommended.

For all the classic owners out there (190SLs, fintails, W113s, 300SLs, W108s, R107s, W109s, 600 Limos...) I propose Burlingame Motors. Their shop rate is $128 an hour, about average for the area, and they do exceptional work, from what I have seen. They know these antique Mercedes VERY well.

They are open from 8am to 5pm, and here's their contact info:

Burlingame Motors
1295 Rollins Road
Burlingame, CA 94010
(650) 343-8858

Rene is great to deal with. I work at this shop, so, in order to provide a non-biased opinion, feel free to comment on it, whether your experience has been positive or negative.

Yes, Burlingame Motors!

I just had a very good experience with Burlingame Motors. My '89 560SL had several repair/upgrade needs. Rene did an outstanding job, diagnosing all of the problems and proposing reasonably priced solutions. My car drives much better now - and, I feel like I was treated fairly and professionally. I have to say - the cars in Rene's shop are amazing - 190's, 280's, 300's . . . and, he treated my run-of-the-mill 560 as if it were a true classic. I'm definitely going back!
