Today I had my 1997 C36 in the shop. I had the CPS replaced because I was experiencing the typically symptoms (loss of power). The mechanic said that he tried to also find the "ticking" noise coming from the engine/underside of the vehicle. I wasn't sure what he was talking about. I drove off...and made it a few miles down the road before I noticed the "ticking" noise he was talking about. I really only noticed it when the car was at an idle or when I drove past other cars or walls.

Is this because the Crankshaft sensor is rattling or is this normal and I just never noticed it? I have read other forums where the C35 "diesel" sound is explained. I'm not sure If I just noticed because he brought this to my attention or because the mechanic caused an issue and didn't know how to fix it. Any insight?
