2001 C320 blower problems Help!!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My C320 ac/heater blower fan will not work all the time. It will work somedays and somedays not. It usually fails whenever the car sits in the hot sun. The blower function stays on Lo and no air comes out. I currently have in a repair shop, they replaced the blower motor resistor and I still have the problem. They said the blower motor itself checks out fine. Also sometimes all the function lights on the dash appear to be really dim and barely visible. When the car is in the shade it works fine. I need help as the heat index is over 110 . thanks

It is usually one or the other - blower motor or blower regulator, or sometimes both. It is always advisable to change your cabin filters once a year or every 12000 miles. Dirty cabin filters restrict the flow of cool air into the blower compartment, and when there is no cool air - the blower regulators and their resistors heat up, and it will cause the b/reg to work intermittently or burn out. Check the brushes on the blower motor, if they are worn, which is possible after 10 years, they could be making intermittent contact. Did you install an OEM or aftermarket blower regulator?

thanks for your quick response. the mechanic replaced the blower resistor using an OEM part. I will suggest he check blower motor regulator. True about the cabin filter. he replaced it and said it was filthy. again hopefully this will fix the problem.

Hi, can anyone help me, I have an E220 convertible, the blower has stopped working, have checked the fuse which seems OK. Have lifted up the fuse holding and looked of a wire had come lose? Do you know what colour wire I should be looking for? Is there something else I should check . Thanks. David S
