I look under the car and saw that it was leaking like crazy. I know it was fuel because it i smelled it. the fuel was coming from the rear right side. now please please please :crybaby2::crybaby2:does anyone know why was at leaking or why did the pump shots off?:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: I'm sacred to drive because i'm afraid that it will get hot and catch on fire.:crybaby2::crybaby2::crybaby2:

right rear... the pumps and fuel filter are located there. When I replaced my filter this spring @188K the fuel hoses had dry rotted from 4ml thickness down to the last two layers of nylon, rubber. I freaked out flew to the dealer ship and bought the hoses which was sold by the meter. After measuring and cutting down the hoses to size, 30minutes later and I was golden. That might be it.

Also, is the fuel level sensor ok? It may be off/faulty and you might have overflowed the tank. When it does the excess fuel will run down a little hole right below the gas tank knob

I had a leak on my 95 c280. It was slow, but was from the right rear side. Mine turned out to be from the fuel level sensor. If you take off the plastic cover (3 bolts holding it on), underneath you'll see a 1" diameter silver plug. I removed the plug, with an Allen wrench. Around the base of the plug is a rubber gasket. The gasket was dry rotted and had cracks. The cracks allowed fuel to get past the gasket and leak.
My guess is that your problem is more likely the fuel lines if it's leaking that much.

Common problem areas are the fuel lines to the fuel pump and filter area, sounds like what you described. You will have to remove the plastic cover there to access the area and have a look. There are several posts concerning pinholes leaks but yours sounds like its a gas-a-fall. I don't think you will catch on fire since its somewhat secluded from the exhaust pipe but its something your going to have to address sooner than later. B

the same thing happened to me 1997 c280 simple fix and cheap there are two rubber hoses maybe around 5-6 inches in length. on the right rear side one you can see from the outside and one is behind a plastic cover. you can get them pre cut from dealer but they dont come with clamps. no biggie though just go buy some. i think they are vapour hoses from the filler neck. its hard to see without jacking up the car though. If you cant fix it right away just dont fill the tank all the way. hope this helps.

Similar problem after topping off the tank yesterday. I noticed a heavy gas smell and fuel coated some of the right rear spring coils. Thought at first that the attendant may of overfilled the tank and spilled some gas but this proved not to be the case. Problem was a small hose (15 mm x about 6" long) above the right rear wheel which I believe connects the expansion tank to the fuel system. It was seriously cracked and degraded.
