This is a repost. I have a 1994 C280 with a lock problem. The key will only turn slightly (approx 5 degrees). With the key loosened in the steering column it is enough to unlock the steering column but no more. The lock assembly needs a key to remove it and apparently a key to unplug the harness. I have a fresh valet key and it does no better ruling out the worn key issue. I have tried lubricant and even the suggestion of nail polish on the key. It acts like one of the tumblers is broken. So I have to act like no key. Do I drill the lock? Do I cut the assembly? What is the procedure? I am stuck!:

For a little more than the price of a tow, you can probably get a locksmith to come to the car.

I'd tell him not to worry about the lock, and just fix it so it will turn when a key is in the cylinder. You can't start the car without the proper key electronics anyway.
