Haven't hear that on our C320 4matic. Do you think it's a tranny noise or more of a differential noise?
C240 4MATIC Noise
Every once in a while I get a brief whiring type of noise, like gears spinning, coming from the front end on my 03 C240 4MATIC. Any ideas?

Winter mode shouldn't make a difference...
All it does is start the car off in 2nd gear. I frequently use that mode (it's called "Comfort" mode in the S-class, heh) when driving around passengers since it provides for slightly smoother starts.do you have the A/C on? is it in W mode?
