I am looking at a nice C230K, 6sp for my second MB. Can anyone tell me the specs on the engine, hp/torque etc and what is the avg mpg? I figure the mpg will probably be good as this a smaller car with a I4 and a 6spd but mostly I'm just curious.

Thanks!

The 2002 had a 2.3L motor, 192hp, can be hopped up with a simple pulley kit and mine, with a 6 spd got about 25mpg on the highway and about 20 in the city. 2003-2005 used a 1.8L motor, 189HP, can't easily be hopped up and should get about 1-2 mpg more than the 2.3L and slightly smaller torque curve.

i have a 1.8L c230 coupe and get around 22 city and anywhere between 26-37 highway... if its a long drive and non-aggressive driving i'll average at 36-37.... but its intermediate highway and aggressive driving its 26-30 (all depending how you drive).

This one is an 04 with the 1.8. So that ones not easy to hopup-bummer as it would be fun to do some performance mods to put over 200 bhp under the hood.

you can get over 200 bhp in the 1.8L with a simple ECU tune and that will run $450-500... i plan to do it once i recover from other current mods.

pulleys cost 3x as much though and the 1.8L engine isn't as flexible in that manner.

This will be a daily driver if I get it so I wouldn't want to change it too much-a chip upgrade sounds like a good idea- how about an exhaust mod-that's usually good for 10 bhp and often a little better MPG-not to mention a better tone.
