I just bought a 2000 C230 I really like it drives great, interior is in great condition. I took the car to a mechanic prior to buying minus a few things rear brakes etc.. They said it was in good condition for its year and mileage 107K two days later my check engine light is on and the mono wiper stopped working is this sort of thing just normal repair with these?

well, i recommend checking your codes to see why the check engine light is on. autozone can do this for free. get back to us with what codes you get and people can help you out with whats wrong from there. as for the wiper, when did it stop working? and what had you done recently or right before it stopped working?

also, are your turn signals working and the rear window defroster?

I'll check the codes tomorrow. As for the wiper it was working well until my g/f pulled into the parking space for the house it stopped at 12 o'clock, odd because it worked for the 25 min drive home. We got it down to off position I can hear the motor still running. The rear lights are working and the defrost is working as far as I can tell.

I had a headlight problem my is 2005 C230 K, the headlight beamed too low and hard too see in front of the car when i drive in a dark areas. Anyone know how to adjust it please show me.

i recommend you post in the w203 forum, since that is your type of car, and start your own topic, youll probably get more help that way.

as for the wiper, it might just need lubricating. try searching the forum about it. it sounds like the relay that controls the wiper is working fine. and if you can hear the motor, it sounds like thats working fine as well.

Ok the code from the check engine light is PO410 ( Secondary air system malfunction ) I had the mech stop before it cost too much more per hour, I'm going to get an Auto Zone code read to see what it says. With the wiper the mech basically they said "Wiper motor worked, but is not connected to wiper arm will need to take apart and check linkage and drive couplings". I'm considering just trying to fix the wiper myself is that unreasonable?

So the air pump is throwing a code? perhaps a clog. Have any fuses blown?
There have been some issues with a plastic gear breaking with the wiper issue, quite a few posts on repair and lube for this. B

Not sure if its the air pump I wouldn't know this is my first Benz. I'm looking to fix the wiper myself I'm just curious if it's pretty easy to do.

2000 C230 Kompressors don't have air pumps for the start-up like normally aspirated cars do... they use the supercharger as an air pump. So secondary air system, not sure what that would be... unless an issue with the S/C (which would be really rare).

The wiper however, is an issue for these cars... usually from leaving the wiper on when the windshield is dry and it having to work that much harder to move rubber across a dry surface.

The issue is usually lubrication, but a guy I worked with has had his wiper motor replaced twice in a year on a 98 C230. Started out just being a lubrication problem.
