Hi friends,

I've got a 2002 W203 C320 and i'm considering switching over to a 2008 W204 C200.

The latter is going to cost a little over double. Reason for change is the new shape & interior, less chores etc.

However, power / acceleration are a main consideration. Merc website say the new C200 does 0-62 mph (0-100 km/hr) in just about the same time as the old C320 i.e. 7.8 seconds.

Please give your opinion / suggestion for this move / change.

Thanks a lot in advance and eagerly looking forward to your suggestions.

The 203 is one of the more problematic models MB ever released.

The 204 has been really good and there are lots of nicer things about it.

That right there would decide it for me. ;)

Be prepared to lose a few features if your C320 has--e.g., leather seats and memory seats... the '08s were cheapened up to make the price-point.

Thanks.
Can live with out the memory seats as the ones on this car drain the battery anyways. Secondly, fabric is a better option for me in this hot weather.

But what about power, i mean is the C200 (W204) really as fast as the C320 ?

Thanks again.

It falls way short of the 300 in h-p and gives up a lot of torque too. The power of the 320 is just a little shy of the 300. Just going by the numbers I'd guess that compared to the '02 C320 an '08 C200 may not even be lighter nor quicker off the line and is probably pretty noisy too...

Thanks.

Agreed, based on my actual long term ownership experiences with both cars.
