hi everyone,

i need urgent help, so my car has been running abit rich lately so i took it to the benz mechanic to see whats wrong with my baby. Ran into major trouble when the mechanic couldnt run diagnostics on my car, he said there was no response when plugged into his computer, then gave me a $6000 quote on the part needed to replace ( i believe it is the computer or ecu or something) MY car is a 1996 C200 classic, any ideas, thoughts or help would be appreciated

thank you all

I have a '96 C220 Classic that is also running slightly rich.

My mechanic confirmed that the fuel/air mixture is controlled by the "computer". $6000 seems a little steep - so I would first confirm that it really is a problem with the car and not your mechanics computer that has the problem.

Go get a second opinion from another Benz mechanic.
