Found this rare 'beauty' for sale in Finland. How to know if this is real or not? Mercedes-Benz CE 300-24 AMG Coupé 1993 - Vaihtoauto - Nettiauto
IMO i don't like SEC hood or those dark rear lights (which obviously are not original). Also the interior looks kinda weird for an AMG. And what about the steering wheel? It's not from 93' am I right? Manual dogleg Getrag 5 gear :3

real? it's really a car. odds are pretty good that AMG body kit stuff was bolted on.

The badge says AMG 34 16. Is there any way to know if this is real amg or not? Is there some VIN numbers or anything in these pre-merger AMG's?

Have you inquired with the seller about documentation on the car? The modifications shown, certainly are period correct. Like all things AMG did at that time, it was pretty much ala carte for options such as the steering wheel. There should be some ID stickers on the valve cover if the motor was/is modified.

I don't think the VIN tells anything. However, since the guys is saying there were only 25 of those made, he'd better have some documentation. Especially since he has taken the time to even highlight the plate on the side of the block.

If not, then I'd consider it just another 300CE with some period correct AMG bits here and there.

It's all in the paperwork that is present, since I guess there are none really available from AMG's archives.

And since he hasn't even listed a price, just offers, I'd say he is looking for some pretty nice penny for it.

just noticed it has a dual return hydraulic reservoir, if I'm correct that means it has SLS and ASD ? SLS wasn't commonly installed on anything other than the 500E and wagons, right?

It was an option on coupes, sedans etc. Pretty rare here in the states, but Ive seen it on several euro spec cars, including cabriolets.

I think this car hasn't SLS.
From the 12/1989 cars with ASD, SLS or ASD+SLS have identical hydraulic fluid reservoir with dual return line.

Yes, the 300 CE-24s have this steering wheel up to 05/1991 only.

The AMG 3.4CE (300CE-24 based coupé) are all LHD, 25 were produced from 1988 until 1993.

And yeah, he's asking for 15-25k Euros which is OK price. There has been almost similar 3.4 AMG's for 20k--> in Germany and all have been sold.

Looks like it has the stickers on the valve cover, so I guess it could very well be the real deal with engine mods. Again, hopefully the seller has some documentation.

I checked engine-Nr... an it's not found in the DB's data-base...
As for me, this car looks like usual 300 CE-24 with original AMG Motor & body kit, but installed not by AMG...

Does anybody have got the VIN of the car?

No VIN, at least not yet. And like said before, I don't think that it would help, because it's pre-merger. I asked him for those stickers on the engine room, but no answer yet. Starting to feel like this is a real deal. He's not sure if he wants to sell this car, if i'm not wrong, just curious to see if there's any asking for this kind of a rarities with good price In finland..
