C pillar rub?

I never had it on my 98. One of the fixes was to wear/cut out a bit of the trunk interior plastic that rubs the C pillar. But I never saw such 'cutting' on my car. Maybe the interior plastic housing was fitted lower down or something... ?

Yeah I dont think it is specific to any model, but I haven't even heard of many people having this problem...although it is "well known." Maybe it could happen as the roof slowly settles/drops slightly over time because of use? Either way, lots of possible fix ideas at slk32.com.

Thanks to this forum, I kept my eye on it and saw wear after 6-8 months. I took it in and they adjusted the top mechanism, buffed out the C piller and said if I wasn't satisfied they would repaint it. Looked perfect to me and haven't seen any rubbing since. 3+ years and only 17k miles though.

It's the pillar directly behind you and to the left. It slants forward and is part of the roof...The SLK only really has 2 pillars.

cmorosco's thread about his C pillar problem. It is the fat support on the back of the roof. When the roof folds, it sits in the bottom of the trunk. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1198048&posts=12&fid=26
