I just purchased a 2000 S500. It has no navigation disks. Now I am confused about what type of disk I need for the system I have. What is the difference between C-nav and D-nav? Can I use the latest version nav disk? Thanks for the help.

The 2000 S-Class Mercedes-Benz came equipped with both C navi and D navi based COMAND systems To verify which system is installed in the vehicle, the follow test can be performed:

Press the Detour ( “ DETR ) button on the COMAND upper-right keypad. The C navi has only the “Traffic Jam option. The D navi has both the “Traffic Jam as well as the “Detour in Route option.

I believe that you need the "D" NAV system to use the current CD's.
