Personally, if I was leasing I would buy the A5. Purchase, no question, the MB C. Reliability of the two are not even close. Audi is the least reliable of all the luxury German, American and Japanese manufactures. Only company worse would be Land Rover. Jaguar is almost as bad, but makes beautiful cars also. Volvo makes a good car also, but their coupe/convertible C70 is outdated and a bit underpowered. My favorite look. I am presently shopping for a new car and it is down to either a C350 coupe in palladium with the red leather or an Audi S4 6 sp manual in monsoon Grau with red/ black interior.
2 very different cars. The C has a better driving position and seats. The Audi seats a very cool but I cannot get comfortable as in the C.
Plenty of power on the C and the trans is very smooth. The S4 is fast! But the clutch has a very long travel and the overall car is missing some soul. I have been driving both on a couple of test drives over the past few days.
Still debating on lease or buy. If I buy, it will be the C. The Audi does not make me feel comfortable regarding maintenance and reliability long term.
Thoughts?
I love the look of that interior, I don't think the speed of the vehicle should ever dictate the look of the interior. If it looks good, it looks good! What do you think about this red/black 2-tone interior on a C250 Coupe? Do you think it's too much because the car is not that fast?

I did look at the A5. Leasing is not an attractive option. A base 2.0, manual is around $750/mth and as you mentioned, I would not buy due to long term reliability issues.Personally, if I was leasing I would buy the A5. Purchase, no question, the MB C. Wow $750/mo, crazy. Can't go wrong with the 350 coupe unless you drive a lot in the snow. GTI is the best and most reliable of all the VWs (according to my old independent German mechanic). Many less electrical gremlins than Audi since it's not as high tech. Big step down from the C350 though in looks, status (if you care), build quality and maybe slightly less reliable, but close. Handling should be close but outright speed would go to the C350 by may .4 sec 0-60. I had actually thought of the GTI myself, but wanted AWD. The R32 is coming in the spring I think, but with at least 35K price tag. I personally prefer the looks of the 4 dr GTI though. Good luck!I did look at the A5. Leasing is not an attractive option. I like your comment about the land/Range rover. Our local Audi dealer sells them and the local joke is that you need to live within a 1 mile radius of the dealer so you can push it there when it breaks down.
As of today, it is down to 2 options: The C 350 coupe or a fully loaded VW GTI with full leather. (quite the opposite cars) but I have a friend/family discount with VW. I honestly think it will come down to the C 350. My wife dislikes the look of the GTI.
