M6
Didn't you test drive a car with the M6 before ordering? If you had, one would expect that the same problem would have been evident if it was typical of all C's.
The C240 I test drove had a fine gearchange. There were absolutely no clunks or other noises, internal or external, when changing gear.
No-one on the North American BBs has mentioned this particular problem with the M6 drivetrain, nor have the motoring press written about it.
I suspect there may have been a batch of faulty M6 drivetrains assembled in S. Africa, from what you are describing.
Alternatively, I suppose a ham-fisted driver could make any drivetrain seem faulty. Assuming that you know how to shift properly, this is likely not the problem.
Insist on a thorough analysis of the drivetrain. I'd be inclined to suspect the universal joints in the propeller shaft, or even incorrect lash adjustment in the crown and pinion, not the gearbox itself. There is virtually nothing inside the gearbox that could generate an audible clunk upon changing gear.
Good luck with your problem.
