Dear taintedlens,

The mid-70's through mid 80's MB diesels are the finest cars money can buy. I've owned four of them, and every single one is still running today (I sold one, gave one away to a family member, and lost the third one in a divorce-- I'm still driving the fourth one).

Clean your electrical contacts once a year with a little sandpaper (all of these cars are a little prone to electrical gremlins, but cleaning chases most of them away), do your oil and transmission fluid changes, and that car should go a half-million or more miles before you have to worry about rebuilding the engine (the one I gave away had 600,000 miles on it in 1994, when I gave it to my sister-in-law-- who is still driving it today!).

Good Luck!
Rex
