Just a heads up. A Benzworld member phoenix44 from Canada, who has posted on here a lot over the years is either scamming me or something else is up with him.
I bought his '01 Xenon Headlights that he posted on here back in January. He said he shipped them through UPS in January, and indeed there were 2 tracking numbers. One arrived broken in February, a couple weeks after shipping which was fine, but the other never arrived. After a couple months messing with UPS, they finally admitted they lost it and he got the insurance claim check from them and told me he would send it to me. (Mind you this was actually my claim since I already paid him over $400 for the lights but they handle claims through the shipper). Well anyway, after hearing 2 dead dog stories and one slipped on the ice story as to why he could never find the time to mail me the check, it has now been over 3 weeks since I even last heard from him - almost 2 months since he got their claim check - and over 4 months since I sent him the original money. He does not answer emails anymore, and I have received no money. I ended up having to buy more lights, so I am now out over $800, and he has both my original money as well as the UPS insurance check and I assume has decided to keep it all for himself. Not a bad profit for one broken headlight. Buyer beware!
Well Thomas,
I can certainly understand your frustration! I would like to point out that the dead dogs, the slip on the ice, and the trip to Europe, were all absolutly true.
In fact, as you pointed out, I am a regular on Benzwrold, and you will note, that there were no posts during the period in question.
Regarding UPS, as you may recall, UPS would not even answer my questions directly, as I had used a UPS Store, and UPS told me that the UPS Store was the customer and not me.
You will also recall that UPS took a long time to perform their "search" for the missing headlight, and then they took even longer to issue a cheque.
You may wish to note that I have infact posted that I live in the country, some distance from the city and any banks where I would have been able to obtain a bank draft.
Upon my return from Europe, (which was a VERY last minute business trip for a client in France, I look after their Group benefits), I did go to the bank the very next day, and sent you the bank draft by Canada Post Express Post, and I e-mailed you the Tracking number and the Canada Post web site, where you could go to track the envelope.
The loss of my two dogs and my injuries from falling on the ice were no joke! It was a really SH***Y start to the year.
Regarding Ebay, I did not feel the need to continue my "membership", as anything that I had to sell from my old 430, was sold, and without any theatrics. Sometimes SH**T happens beyond the control of anyone. I do feel that I am a very honest and ethical person, and a really regret very deeply that you may not share that view of me at this point in time.
There was another member of Benzworld, who was looking for a front licence plate holder, I offered to send it to him, with out ANY dollar benefit to me, I only asked that he make a donation to the charity of his choice. Does that sound like someone who is a "scammer" or a thief?
Once again, I am very sorry for the far less than enjoyable experiance. The sequence of events got off to the wrong foot with UPS, and had that not happened, I am certain that everything would have been resolved long before any of the SH*T hit the fan in my life.
In addition, I sold you the lights for $350U.S. and the bank Draft which I sent you was for $200U.S. more that half of the sale price as "sorry" for what happend.
