It had been loose for a few weeks and has fallen off. i have 3 screws holding in my plate now. what should i do for that 4th screw? what fell off was the metal round spacer that was mounted to the trunk. any thoughts?

Buy another spacer? That part of the trunk lid is not rusted to prevent you from doing this is it? More details are needed.

I am pretty sure I saw them in the EPC, which means the dealer sells them. I forget exactly what they are called, but they swage into the metal. You have to pull off the trunk lid liner to get to the back side of them, if you're doing that you might as well do the license plate bulbs while you're there.

The little fastener is small enough it shouldn't be more than a few bucks.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

thanks for all the reply's . I went ahead and just used a bolt washer and nut. worked great. Here is the update, with black license plate frame and tinted tails.

I believe we are talking about round sleeves with threaded hole in the center, that is riveted to sheet metal on the trunk?
Had few of those spinning around, but with some tricky screwdriver use I was able to tight them up. You can buy square version of them at any hardware story. We have ACE close to marina in Martines, that even have them in metric sizes, although I re-threaded 1/4" to 6mm few times.
Than 3 screw on license plate is still good hold.
