The EU will "not be responsible for any kind of consequences" of a no-deal Brexit, the Commission president said, saying Brexit was a "British decision."

"The European Union is not leaving the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is leaving the European Union ... We did not invent the Brexit."

The EU politburo is intent on making Brexit so punitive it stops other rats, sorry countries, leaving the sinking ship, and to hell with the consequences, e.g. to the already struggling German auto industry, or Irish agriculture, or ...

And anyway, GT misses the whole point that the [British] Comonwealth is more of a talking shop and a four-yearly sports event than it is about [re]creating some sort of superstate - that was The Empire, after all.

No collective trade agreements.
No centralized unelected politburo.
No centralized military.
etc.

If these are your ideas of "jokes" I wouldn't give up the day job. You're about a funny as a root canal.

Our collective national memory is clouded by that chant about "no taxation without representation" at the hands of British Empire....Commonwealth, Empire - if you are not British in either arrangement you aren't exactly "equal."

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has personally apologized to the Queen for asking her to approve the unlawful suspension of the House of Commons, The Times of London reported Sunday.

Johnson made his mea culpa on Tuesday, after a British court found that the five-week suspension he had ordered violated the law.

“He got on to the Queen as quickly as possible to say how sorry he was,” an insider told the newspaper.

Johnson’s controversial shutdown order had been meant to give Parliament no time to delay Brexit ahead of the Oct. 31 deadline.
