I finally got my dash inserts in and my grille. The SLK is starting to come together. My side skirts, rear lip and front lip are being painted as I speak! And Kuhl- I ordered a MOMO shift knob, perforated leather and aluminum. Let me know what you guys think so far. These are my first mods (other than AMG trunk lip) on my car. What kind of wheels do you all think would look good? I don't want to go bigger than 17's though as I still want good acceleration.
Hope my pics download.

Looks really nice - particularly your grill. It has no chrome on the bars right? A subtle change from the OEM.

Where did you get the grill...

I'd settle for SLK320 OEM wheels and enjoy a stock updated look.

I really like the contrast and I an sure it looks hot with the yellow as a whole package. I think I know the knob you are referencing and it will look very nice as an addition to the interior. Most importantly though, how do YOU like it???

While the grille is a subtle mod, it cleans up the front end and makes it look a little more elegant and updated. It should really look nice once you get your body pieces mounted.

If you like 17's then go for it! Have you considered the OZ Racing Super Leggera??? I think the gunmetal finish looks hot with yellow and the style looks great on an SLK ... not to mention that they are high-quality lightweight racing wheels:

Thanks Paul...I really like the contrast as it gives this little MB some real character. My wife was concerned about me making the car into a "hoochie" car[8D] and when she came out and looked at it she REALLY liked it. (wanted to know when the skirts were going to be finished and installed)
I need to look at those OZ wheels and see how they stack up.
We do go up to VIR (Virginia International Raceway)virclub.com twice a year for nostalgia roadracing and take the SLK. I am sure that the SLK when finished will be a real looker. (like yours)
Thanks for your comments guys...Mike,I will get some additional pics but it will be in the next two weeks as the car is now in the shop.[:p] Thanks guys.

Why would larger than 17" wheels hurt acceleration? Seems to me that if you keep the tire diameter the same, you keep the drive ratio the same and keep acceleration the same.

If you consider a wheel of the same design in both a 17 and 18 inch diameter, the 18 will usually weigh significantly more. You are adding to the unsprung weight where it will effect the acceleration the most ... right at the wheel and tire. It would require a higher rate of initial inertia to move the body with a higher mass at the same rate. It is a consideration for ppl looking to squeeze the most performance out of their SLKs.

Also though, keep in mind, a tire with a really short sidewall will almost always corner better. Just like most things in life, there is always a trade-off. Are you looking for pure acceleration, or better handling in the twisties??? Pick your wheel and tire combo accordingly.
