 Hi Im new to this forum thing so excuse me if Ive got the wrong place. Im looking for some help/advice. Ive recently bought a replacement disc for my comand satnav fitted to my 2004 E CLASS E240 Avantgarde Tip Auto 5 Door Estate. It loads in the holder in the boot OK, but when I try and enter any details it comes up with a message saying Please fit a disc to the satnav system or something. When I replace the original disc back in the reader it works as before. The disc is genuine and was sealed when I bought it, its the right part number for the model. The dealer recommends I leave it with them for the day at £115 an hour to rectify as they say these things take time and skill...! Any help would be appreciated before I give the dealer loads of cash to state the obvious. Thanks Jazzy

Can you give the part number/map version number of both discs? Often if you have skipped a few map updates, the new map DVD does not load any more and you need a service CD to update the device.

But I thought you should get some sort of an indication about an incorrect disc immediately after loading the disc and entering the navi mode.

Thanks for your reply. The new disc number is A211 827 95 59 and old disc is version 03 A211 827 52 59. The disc is a genuine Merc part and was sealed when purchased. The fault on the screen says No DVD please insert Navigation DVD (boot). The software for the DVD appears to be 1.00.1628 XSYS_SW_VE RO.339-2. I dont think its been up dated since the car was built. Thanks Jazzy

Thanks I'll contact my local dealer and see if they can update the head end of the DVD player. I'll keep you posted on the results.
