Our 2012 ML350 displays "Check Brake pad wear". Sensors are on the right wheels of the car. Inspected and replaced both sensors. Pads are new (front and rear). Is there a reset function for that warning message or does someone have a clue how to fix this? Thanks

Unfortunately it seems that nobody here has an answer to my issue. Does anybody have a wiring diagram showing the routing and connections between the sensors and the relevant "module"? I checked "alldatadiy" but they do not cover the ML series. Does somebody know where this control module is located? I am trying to check the integrity of the cable between the sensors and the control module. Would a battery disconnect ("Reset") do any good?
Thanks!!

generally the break light goes on: when the sensor touch ground (this case rotor) check if you scratch/cut the plastic on them, check if the wire has a cut near the wire holder on suspension bracket... check if oil level of brakes are low.
it general don't need to erase error for that, unless that is specific for that car

brake sensors are on of that parts.. that anything... will do...
if you disconnect the sensors, turn ignition on, start the car they're still on?
on mine 3 mb's as soon it doesn't make ground contact.. lights are off...
on a ML... no clue..sorry

well if you unplug brake sensor on the Front and on the Rear wheel too...
for me you must have a short somewhere on one of the wires of brake pad sensor...
if you follow both wires on rear and front until they're connected to a plug and no cuts on the rubber of wire....
have no more ideas...

Thanks Roberto- That is exactly where I am right now. So I was hoping someone here has a wiring diagram and can tell me the location of the control module so I can check the wires from sensor to module for short or interruption.

You need to get a scanner that will display live data from front SAM (Signal Acquisition Module) N10 and rear SAM N10/8. That will narrow down problem to front or rear.
The way SAM evaluates circuit for pad sensor is small voltage is sent and expected value is dead short to ground. As lip of the brake disc cuts sensor circuit gets opened.
That's why disconnecting sensors produces same warning.

You dont need to check the control module...in my opinion... Only to follow the route of wires and check them.
On the front they will end on some kind of plug in engine bay... on the rear dont know where they usually end...
In my knowledge all of them work when the plastic isolator wears off and make "ground" on rotor brake... It don't measure the thickness of the breaking pad or some other sort of magic... it's a pretty simple system.
But if you want the schematic send me your vin and i will search on wis and post it

@Witek: Thanks, this is exactly the information I am looking for! I am familiar with WIS, I am using it for my '95 S500, however, I do not have access to the ML data. Could you please tell me where the modules N10 and N10/8 are located?
Good to know that one end of the sensors are supposed to be on GND.
@Roberto: I was trying to disconnect the plug in the engine bay, I am afraid to break it and hard to get to. Thank you for your offer re the schematic. For now, Witek sent me the most relevant pages and now I need to find the modules to confirm that the cables are ok (or not).

Thank you both again!

Yes it was resolved. The sensor wire going from the brake caliper to a connector in the engine compartment was bad: The insulation shaved off along the hub carrier. This could only be seen after disconnecting the sensor wire and moving it away from the carrier. I suggest you inspect that wire very carefully from the brake caliper all the way to the connector.

Thanks for the quick reply. Was the replacement done by you or a shop? If by you, was it relatively easy to replaced considering it’s connected all the way in the engine bay? Do you have the part number for the wire that needs to be replaced?

I did it myself and it was not too difficult. Important to know is that you first have the inner wheel lining out, which seems a bit complicated but it is not. Once you have done that you can have easy access to the cable and the connector on the engine side. As far as I recall the cable is held in place with cable ties. However before you disassemble try to twist the sensor cable so that you can check for any damage to it. So you can be sure that this is indeed the culprit.
As far as I know the part No is 166-540-01-05
