Brake Shift Interlock Override

Is there a shift lock override on the 722.6 transmission? I have a '97 SL500 stuck in park that may need to be towed. Can it be towed in park? I have only found instructions here and at MBWorld for 2000+ model years.

I removed the oil pan and looked at the shift park release link--nothing was visibly broken but I don't know what to look for. The car needs to be moved from its current (garage) location tomorrow.
