When braking in my E430, quite often (but not all the time) I can feel the pedal pulstating very quickly. It feels like the ABS is activating. The pedal also feels a little soft now.

Any thoughts on what it may be? It's not warped discs/rotors.

Thanks

The shaking and softness may be two separate problems. If the pedal is soft, its the brake mass cylinder, if its hard its the brake booster.

Seems a coincidence that they have appeared at the same time.

When slowing down, at just a few mph the abs sometiimes cuts in and increased brake pressure is applied without me changing the amount of pressure with my foot. It's doing it on its own!

Help.

If they are still tick enough, take them out, sand them with sand paper, clean the seatings on the calipers make sure pads are free to move (that's where the problem normally is) and try again. Has happened to me before, a simple cleaning will do in most cases if that is the problem and not the ....

Thought I would update. It was the ABS ring on the rear drive shaft.

Simple fix.
