I have replaced the brake switch and thought the issue was fixed.

I only see the issue in the mornings, I think it a dampness issue because it appears mostly when its rainy or on a cold damp morning. I think the issue appeared to be fixed before because its been so hot and dry this summer. The last two days its been colder or rainy in the mornings.

I assume the moisture is causing a short somewhere but any ideas on where to start looking would be appreciated.

Check the #2 fuse

I've had the same sporadic problem. Whenever I think it's fixed, the ABS/ESP, etc. comes up. I pull the fuse (driver side dash panel), and put it back in, making sure it's tight. Then, turn the steering wheel back and forth twice to stops in order to clear error. Seems to fix it for a week or two.
