I am curious if the brake lights are on when the vehicle brake HOLD is activated (seems they should be) but not curious enough to get out while the vehicle is running and brake HOLD on, to look though. Initially I didn't think I would use the hold that much but am starting to like it a lot! Hope it works well!! Are there glitch reports concerning the brake HOLD? Thanks,

Jay

Well, get a friend

If you attempt to open the driver's door while in Hold - take a look at what happens - another layer to the onion, you will be OK

The way most of these German vehicles are over engineered, I wouldn't be surprised if the car put itself into park if you opened the door. I love the puzzled look you get when you try to explain these type of functions to other people. Yes, my car is smarter than you. Not sure of the truth in this but I once read that there were some Mercedes models that threw an SRS code/light or would shut down if you reached over from the passenger side to start the car. Logic being that if the car didn't sense someone in the driver's seat, it would think the was a problem w/ the seat sensor.

That's exactly what MY14 does, open the door while stopped and it puts itself into park. Sometimes I find it annoying while I'm parking in my carport and opening the door with my foot on the brake to check my position. Then I have to put it back into drive or reverse. But as a safety feature to prevent roll aways I can understand why MB did it.

So, if you are driving with intend to jump out of your ML at speed, opening the door will jack it in to P? HAHA!
